(Eagle News) — The Philippine Navy will regularly conduct maritime security patrols in Benham Rise, according to Armed Forces of the Philippine Chief of Staff General Eduardo Año.
The AFP Chief said that he had ordered the deployment of the new strategic sealift vessel of the Navy, the BRP Davao del Sur, to patrol in the 13-million hectare Benham Rise.
Año said that the BRP Lanao del Sur will also do patrols in the Benham Rise area.
The AFP chief said that that vessel has already undergone sea trial.
The BRP Davao del Sur, a sister ship of BRP Tarlac, is the biggest operational warship of the Philippine Navy.
