Philippine Red Cross sets ‘Rebuilding Life in Marawi’ benefit concert on Aug. 10

Several Filipino artists volunteered for a benefit concert organized by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) to raise funds for the most vulnerable people affected by the ongoing crisis in Marawi City.

Dubbed as “Rebuilding Life in Marawi,” the fundraising concert will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The country’s top bands, singers, and celebrities committed to perform on stage for free to support PRC’s humanitarian efforts for Marawi.

Bands that will perform on stage are 6cyclemind, Apartel led by Ely Buendia, Autotelic, Banda ni Kleggy, Blue Jeans Junkies, Callalily, Freestyle, Gab and John of Urbandub, Gracenote, MilesExperience, Side A, South Border, and Tanya Markova.

The others are The Voice of the Philippines grand winners, Mitoy Yonting (Season 1), Jason Dy (Season 2), and Lyca Gairanod, (1st Kids Edition) will perform on stage. Top artists Paolo Santos along with Bradley Holmes, Edray Teodoro, Kia Valenciano, Kyle Echarri, Reynan Dal-Anay, Sabrina and Quest will showcase their singing prowess.

“As the crisis continues, we still need to raise money to sustain our ongoing operations in Marawi. Thus, I encourage our fellow Filipinos to shed light by helping our brothers and sisters affected by the siege. Together, let us fulfill our humanitarian mission by helping the affected individuals get back on their own feet,” said PRC Chairman and CEO, Senator Richard J. Gordon.

From Day 1 of the Marawi crisis on May 23, 2017 to present, PRC has been providing food and non-food items, including hygiene and sleeping kits. Access to clean water and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities like portalets, temporary shower cubicles were also provided.

PRC set up basic health care units to provide immediate medical assistance and provided blood supply to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and injured individuals. PRC Welfare Teams were also mobilized to provide psychosocial support (PSP) and help to restore family links.

Aside from relief and medical assistance, PRC also mobilized its logistics including ambulances and water tankers.
PRC held its first fundraising concert in 2009 for the benefit of Ondoy affected families. This was followed in 2011, which organized by FM Radio Station to help PRC’s Habagat relief operations.

In addition, the Ateneo de Manila University community led by Chairman Gordon and RJ Jacinto organized a concert to support the PRC’s Haiyan (Yolanda) operations. Dolphy’s Alay Tawa concert in 2012 was also held and PRC was one of the recipients of the said fundraising event.

The #RebuildingLifeInMarawi concert is in partnership with the SM Mall of Asia Arena and MCA Music Inc for the venue and the production. Paolo Valenciano is in charge of the overall direction of the event.

PRC also collaborated with some media partners including Philippine Information Agency, Manila Bulletin, Manila Times, Abante, Rappler, Eagle Broadcasting Corporation, Pinas FM95.5, Net25, CNN Philippines, Magic89.9 DWTM-FM, and Radyo Mindanao Network.

Tickets are priced at 5,350 PHP (VIP Patron), 3,745 PHP (Lower Box), 1,605 PHP (Upper Box) and 535 PHP (General Admission). Cash donations will also be accepted onsite from 6 PM to 10 PM.
