QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — It is about time that the Philippines exert its sovereign rights over the Pag-asa Islands, this according to Dr. Renato De Castro, an international relations expert.
The expert from Dela Salle University also said that the Philippines should fund projects to construct facilities in the island in order to match the aggressiveness of China and Vietnam in the disputed territories, especially with the ruling of the United Nations arbitral tribunal holding that Pag-asa Islands belong to the Philippines.
“Kailangang nating igiit yung claim natin eh.. Kundi mamarginalize yung facilities. Yung mga tao doon wala yatang salinization plan, ni wala yung runway.Paano natin masasabi na pag-aari natin ito kung hindi natin mapaninindigan,” De Castro stressed.
