QUEZON City, Philippines – The Philippines faces the danger of isolation from the international community if it leaves the United Nations.
The statement was made by Ambassador Lauro Baja, former Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the UN after President Rodrigo Duterte threatened that the Philippines will leave the UN if the international body continues to criticize his war against illegal drugs.
Baja added that there are serious complications that the country will face if it leaves the UN, including losing all of the benefits of being a member of the UN. The Philippines is an original signatory of the UN Charter in 1945.
