(Eagle News) — At least five short-lived phreatomagmatic eruptions were again monitored at Taal in 24 hours.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said also monitored at the volcano, which remains on alert level 3, were 60 volcanic earthquakes, including a background tremor.

Sulfur dioxide emissions were pegged  at 11,397 tons on July 7.

A steam plume reaching 1500 meters was also monitored.

PHIVOLCS reiterated the ban on the entry into the Taal Volcano Island and the high-risk barangays of Laurel and Agoncillo.

It also said aircraft should avoid flying near the volcano.

Earlier, PHIVOLCS raised the alert level of the volcano to 3 following a “short-lived” phreatomagmatic eruption.

Several short-lived eruptions of the same nature have occurred since then.
