PHL ambassador to Mexico: “No reports of Filipino casualties” after 7.1-magnitude quake in Mexico

(Eagle News) — There are no reports of Filipino casualties after a powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake  hit central Mexico on Tuesday.

This was according to Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Jose Eduardo de Vega in a radio interview on Wednesday.

According to De Vega, there are less than 100 Filipinos in the area.

“Napakalakas talaga…Up and down talaga,” he said of the quake that hit the state of Puebla, near Mexico City, hours after an earthquake drill.

“Pero nung nangyari ang earthquake drill, takbuhan na talaga lahat,” he said.

He said Philippine authorities are on standby for updates.
