(Eagle News) – The Philippines is hosting the 2nd Southeast Asia video festival for children this November 22 to 24 where the highest honors for children’s media in the professional and amateur categories will be awarded.

For this year’s competition, NET 25 Kids’ “Kid Kuwento: Everyone can be a hero” is a finalist representing the Philippines for the Professional Non-Fiction category for ages below 7.

Other categories are those for Professional Non-fiction for pre-teens, and for teens; and Professional Fiction categories for pre-teens and teens.

All ASEAN member nations will be competing in the various categories.

The event is being held at the Manila Prince Hotel.

This year’s theme is “Everyday Heroes.”

Last year, the Philippines also hosted the competition which was also participated in by other ASEAN member nations.

AnakTV said that each country had sent to the competition their best videos in the 10 listed categories.

“Each country was tasked to conduct its own national competition to choose the country’s best videos that shall be submitted to Southeast Asia Prix Jeunesse for the international competition,” AnakTV said.

In the Philippines, the National competition is called SINEBATA.

“Last year, four Sinebata winners which were fielded at the 1st Southeast Prix Jeunesse won major awards,” it said.

The first Southeast Prix Jeunesse Video Festival for Children was a proud moment for Anak TV, which was the convenor of the First Southeast Asia Prix Jeunesse.

“It is hoped that this year, our entries to the Southeast Asia prix Jeunesse will shine once again at the Festival in November,” AnakTV added.
