QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Marine Pollution Exercise (MARPOLEX) involving the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan has started in Bali as part of the three countries’ coastguard training.
According to Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson Commander Armand Balilio, the Philippines sent 200 coast guards and four vessels – BRP Pampanga, BRP Tubbataha, BRP Nueva Vizcaya, and Tugboat Habagat, to the event that aims to help the participants to determine what to do in the event of a major disaster such as an oil spill.
The activity was held at the port of Benoa on Monday, May 15, and will end on Wednesday, May 17.
This is the 21st MARPOLEX between the Philippines and Indonesia.
