PHL now with 10 golds; remains in 6th place in SEA games

(Eagle News) – The Philippines now has 10 gold medals, 15 silver medals and 20 bronze medals as of Wednesday night, August 23, in the ongoing Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but remains in the sixth place in the over-all medal tally.

Philippine runner Trentren Anthony Beram won the country’s 10th gold in the Men’s 200-meter run, while another runner Aries Toledo won the 9th gold in the men’s decathlon event on Wednesday.

Earlier, on Tuesday, August 22, the country bagged five golds with a win each by runner Eric Cray in the 400 meter hurdles, gymnast Reyland Capellan in the artistic men’s floor exercises, young gymnast Kaitlyn de Guzman in the uneven bars, Agatha

Wong in the women’s wushu, and Brennan Wayne Louie in fencing.

Host country Malaysia remains on top in the medal tally with a gold haul of 50, followed by Singapore and Vietnam with 27 gold medals each, Thailand with 17 gold medals, and Indonesia with 15 gold medals.

Myanmar is ranked next at 7th place with four gold medals.

Brunei, Lao PDR, Cambodia and Timor Leste all have not yet bagged a gold as of August 23, the fifth day of the SEA Games.
