(Eagle News) — The Philippines on Thursday, July 29, reported 97 additional Delta cases, pushing the total to 216.
According to the Department of Health, a sequencing of 9725 samples also yielded 83 more Alpha variant cases, 127 Beta variant cases, and 22 P.3 cases.
With the additional variant cases, the total detected Alpha variant cases in the Philippines climbed to 1856, total Beta variant cases to 2146, and the P.3 variant cases to 266.
Since there was no additional Gamma variant reported, the total detected in the Philippines remains at two.
“With more cases of variants of concern being detected, the DOH urges LGUs to intensify implementation of the (Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate) strategies,” the department said.
The DOH said of the total Delta variant cases, eight have died.
This week, the Palace announced Metro Manila would remain under a general community quarantine with heightened restrictions in the first weeks of August.
The Metro Manila Council, however, has said it would ask the national government to impose stringent restrictions following the confirmation of the Delta transmission in the Philippines.
