PHL to sign five agreements with China in Beijing

(Eagle News)–The Philippines is slated to sign five agreements with China in Beijing later this month.

Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Meynardo Montealegre said the government was eyeing agreements in the areas of education, anti-corruption, official development assistance, drug rehabilitation and infrastructure, as President Rodrigo Duterte attends the second Belt and Road forum from April 25 to 27.

Montelagre said during the forum, Duterte would have a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang.

According to Montealegre, Duterte and Xi  are “expected of course to chart the course of further development of bilateral relations in various areas like defense security, economics and development as well as regional and international issues of mutual importance.”

He said with the premier, “they are expected to discuss in more detail cooperation in various areas, including infrastructure, trade and investments, people to people relations as well as regional cooperation.”
