(Eagle News) — House Deputy Speaker Prospero Pichay Jr. on Friday, Sept. 21, said former Senator Bong Revilla was still undecided on whether or not he would run for a Senate seat again in 2019.
In an interview over radio dzbb, Pichay said Revilla, who is detained over a pork barrel scam case he is facing, will reveal his plans on Sept. 25.
Pichay said Revilla made the announcement after he and several lawmakers from the Lakas-CMD party visited him to try and convince him to run.
“At first he refused. (Sabi niya) ‘Hind muna siguro, aayusin ko muna itong kaso ko. Wala naman tayo kasalanan.’ Pero at the end of the day, sabi niya, kasi pinipilit talaga siya, kahit ‘di ka makakampanya, kami na lang, marami ka namang kaibigan. Sabi niya, ‘Give me a few days’,” Pichay said
As it is, Pichay said Revilla already bagged the seventh slot of senatoriables in “private surveys.”
He said Revilla’s name did not appear in the final 12 of Pulse Asia surveys because he was not considered as a choice by the pollster.
“Pag nag-announce ‘yan, tataas ‘yan,” Pichay said.
