Pimentel: PDP-Laban members linked to drugs to be expelled if allegations proven true

(Eagle News)– Members of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan  tagged in President Rodrigo Duterte’s narco-list will not be tolerated.

PDP-Laban President and Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III issued the statement following reports several new members of the party have been included in the list.

“As the President and our chairman said, if you are unfairly linked to the drug trade, you will be given the chance to clear your name. However, no help will come to you if we can confirm the allegations,” he said.

According to Pimentel, these party members would be suspended, and “shall be expelled” if the allegations against them are proven true.

He said “the continued existence of the illegal drug trade is contrary to the principles of the Party.”

As such, a member linked to drug activities is “not a true member of PDP-Laban if (he or she) def(ies) our chairman’s campaign against illegal drugs,” he said.

He said Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, vice chairman and discipline committee chief of PDP-Laban, would lead efforts to rid the party of corrupt members.
