Reuters –“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” is set to top the North American box office during the Memorial Day holiday weekend from Friday (May 26) through Monday (May 29). The film, which brings back Johnny Depp as the anti-hero Jack Sparrow, is estimated to take in 83 million dollars over the 4-day period, according to BoxOfficePro.
Coming in at No. 2 is expected to be newcomer “Baywatch.” Based on the popular television series, the movie stars Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron as two lifeguards trying to foil a criminal plot taking place around the beach they protect. It’s predicted to earn 32.5 million dollars.
Holding over from previous weeks, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” should see another 24 million dollars added to its global haul of 739 million; “Alien: Covenant” is expected to earn another 16 million dollars for its international sales of 129 million; and “Everything, Everything” is on track for 8 million dollars added to its tally of 13 million dollars.
