QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Transport group Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide will  hold a transport strike on Monday (December 4, 2017) and Tuesday (December 5, 2017).

This in response to the President’s announcement that old public utility jeepneys should be off the streets by January 2018.

PISTON has said that the government’s modernization program was to the detriment of the country.

“The jeepney phase out is just one way for [President] Duterte to appeal himself to foreign and local capitalists. It has no other objective than for a few corporations to monopolize [the jeepney industry],” PISTON head George San Mateo said.
