QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — A joint task force of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) seized assorted firearms and ammunition from the 42 houses of United States Allied Freedom Fighters of the Far East founder Ely Pamatong in Cagayan de Oro City, police said.
The task force seized the deadly weapons, including one caliber .45, and two hand grenades, during raids in the houses in Purok 13, Tabucnai, Tablon Village, around 5 a.m., but did not find Pamatong nor his men, according to Major Evan Vinas of the local police.
“Parang nagbuibuild ng paramilitary..May reports na nakarating sa atin na mayroon siyang arms in custody,” he said.
The raids were by virtue of 42 search warrants issued by a local court.
Pamatong, who ran for the presidency twice but lost, founded USAFFE in 2013 to fight communist insurgents.
