(Eagle News) –The Philippine National Police on Monday, May 28, said it was building cases against those who helped Ozamiz City Councilor Ricardo Parojinog leave the country for Taiwan.
“Kailangan namin makasuhan ‘yung mga nag-coddle at nag-protect sa kanya, that’s why we have case build-up on people na na-identify,” Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Director Roel Obusan said in a press conference, without revealing identities.
Obusan made the statement after the police found Parojinog left the country via the backdoor, without passing through immigration.
Parojinog went into hiding after last year’s bloody raid in the properties of his family that left his brother, Ozamiz Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., and several others dead.
Authorities seized a cache of high-powered firearms and drugs during the July raid.
After ten months in hiding, the Ozamiz councilor was nabbed by Taiwanese authorities after he tried to enter the country using allegedly fake documents.
This was days after the police seized high-powered firearms in his inn and security agency in Pagadian.
President Rodrigo Duterte offered a P5-million bounty for the capture of Parojinog.
