PNP chief belts out his version of Visayan love song, “Usahay” in NET 25’s Piskante ng Bayan

(Eagle News) – It turns out Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa is also a crooner.

Dela Rosa belted out his rendition of the Visayan love song, “Usahay” with all gusto during his guesting on Monday, March 26, at the NET25 program, “Piskante ng Bayan,” hosted by Leo Obligar and his son, Jimmy.

“General Bato is not just a champion in fighting crimes and illegal drug syndicates, he is also a champion at singing,” said Jimmy Obligar in Filipino as he introduced the police chief before his song number.

He said that they had received many requests for the PNP chief — known for his toughness in fighting crime — to sing in the program.
General “Bato” then gamely sang his version of “Usahay,” swaying his body to the beat of the music, as he tapped his fingers and even his feet.

He even hit the high notes even though he was sitting as he sang the song, which was also popularized by Pilita Corrales, Asia’s Queen of Songs.

Dela Rosa was also interviewed in the program by the show’s hosts, Leo and Jimmy Obligar

The police chief explained the current drug situation in the Philippines.

In his final message before the program ended, he urged the public to support the government’s campaign against criminality and illegal drugs.

Gusto ko lang na samantalahin ang pagkakataong ito. Wala akong ibang hinihiling sa ating mga kababayan. Sana suportahan natin ang war on drugs,” he said as he took note of President Rodrigo Duterte’s goal to make the country dug-free.

Sa ikabubuti ng buong Pilipinas ito, sana magtulungan po tayo,” Dela Rosa said.
