(Eagle News)—The Philippine National Police on Wednesday, March 13, expressed its condolences to the kin of Moro Islamic Liberation Front Vice Chair Ghazali Jaafar, who passed away early in the day.
In his statement, PNP spokesperson Senior Supt. Bernard Banac called Jaafar “a partner of the government in peace-building in Mindanao” and a “pillar of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority,” the interim government of the newly created Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
“The PNP (Philippine National Police) expresses its deepest sympathy and condolence to the family..,” Banac said.
Jaafar was reportedly hospitalized due to a heart ailment before he passed away.
In a television interview, MILF chairman Murad Ebrahim said Jaafar had also been diagnosed with a kidney failure before he died.
He was 75 years old.
