No more Oplan Tokhang operations during weekends and at night.

This is based on the supplemental guidelines released by the Philippine National Police to the media on Wednesday.

According to the guidelines completed by the PNP oversight committee, Tokhang operations can only be conducted from Monday to Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

“Tanggalin na ang duda sa gabi..Mas ligtas, mas transparent, mas makikita ng taong bayan (pag daytime),” Chief Supt. Dionard Carlos, PNP spokesperson, said.

Based on the guidelines, policemen conducting Oplan Tokhang operations, or “Tokhangers,” should also wear their uniforms.

They said that the operation should be “intelligence-driven” and should be led by a police official.

As for drug surrenderees, the guidelines say the “taking of (their) mug shots and fingerprints is voluntary and should not be mandatory..”

Policemen will be oriented about the guidelines on January 26, Friday.

Carlos said they hoped to start the new Oplan Tokhang operations on Monday, January 29.
