(Eagle News)–The Philippine National Police on Monday, April 1, stressed the police operations in Negros Oriental that led to the killings of 14 people killed were legitimate.
According to PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde, the operations were covered by search warrants.
“They have 36 search warrants in different parts of Negros Oriental..Ito ay nangyari sa iba’t ibang lugar,” he said.
He belied claims by leftists the killings were a massacre, saying 12 suspects were arrested because they did not resist arrest.
“Kung lahat ‘yan ang intention ay talagang patayin lahat ‘yan, definitely all of them probably, including the 12. But then may 12 na arrested…,” he said.
The police said the operations took place in several towns in the province on Saturday.
The Kabataan party-list condemned the killings, with the Commission on Human Rights saying it would conduct a probe.
