(Eagle News)–The Philippine National Police on Tuesday, April 16, asked the Commission on Elections to remove the security escorts of poll candidates on President Rodrigo Duterte’s narco-list.
“Remember yung pagbibigay ng security is a right not a privilege. Wala sa Constitution na if nasa watchlist or not ay bibigyan ng security,” PNP Chief General Oscar Albayalde said in a press briefing.
Duterte said over 40 politicians were on his list, which he made public ahead of the May elections.
The Comelec has said it would assess whether the pullout of security escorts would push through.
