(Eagle News)– Philippine National Police Spokesperson Senior Supt. Dionardo Carlos on Friday (September 23) announced the Davao City policemen mentioned by supposed Davao Death Squad (DDS) member Edgar Matobato will be presented at the next Senate hearing on September 28.
“They will be presented, they will be asked to appear in the next inquiry and following the suggestion of the vice chair (Senator Panfilo Lacson), they will be presented in an executive session. Kami po susunod sa ipinag-uutos sa susunod na pagdinig,” Carlos told members of the media.
Senator Leila De Lima named and identified the policemen based on Matobato’s testimony. The senator was also the one who requested the Senate committee to invite the policemen.
The names were already going under verification and validation.
“Itong IAS, motu proprio, nung nabanggit ang mga pangalan na ito ay they are now conducting their validation,” Carlos said.
The Davao City police earlier confirmed eight of the mentioned policemen are still active in service, two have been assigned in Presidential Security Group (PSG), eight have already retired and one is already deceased.
Carlos said there is no order yet if those active in service will be placed in floating status while being probed.
“Darating tayo sa time na iyan, iyong pagbabasehan magkaiba kasi. Kung nahanap na may basehan na and it will stand, we will do the same process. Right now kung meron pang ibang magsabi na itong mga ito involved sa cases, we will recommend that.”
