(Eagle News)—The Philippine National Police on Tuesday, Feb. 19, said it would release a list of “narco-politicians” ahead of the 2019 elections.
In a television interview, Senior Supt. Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson, said the list was so far undergoing “validation.”
He said the list would be released “soon.”
Upon his assumption of office, President Rodrigo Duterte released a list of “narco-generals,” or then-PNP officials who were engaged in illegal drug activities.
The list included former National Capital Region Police Office chief Police Director Joel Pagdilao, former Quezon City Police District head Chief Superintendent Edgardo Tinio, Chief Supt. Bernardo Diaz, retired deputy director general Marcelino Garbo and Chief Supt. Vicente Loot.
The President has adopted a very hard stance against illegal drugs, saying they were a menace to society.
