(Eagle News) — Senator Grace Poe welcomed the suspension of the full implementation of the driver-only vehicle ban during rush hours on Edsa.
“Time to go back to the drawing board to think hard what can be done to solve our traffic woes,” she said, after the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority announced the Aug. 23 schedule for the full implementation of the scheme would no longer push through.
She said “policies should always be practical, implementable and in line with public interest.”
As such, the MMDA, she said, “should think hard, so there will be more ‘hits’ than ‘misses’ in its campaigns.”
She said a public consultation was also required.
:Probably, we don’t need new policies, just strict implementation of existing laws and regulations,” she added.
The MMDA said the dry-run of the scheme which aims to decongest Edsa from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. will continue until the Metro Manila Council convenes.
