U.S. pop star Katy Perry visits a children’s theater company during a visit to Havana.
For one afternoon, she was just another Cuban gurl. U.S. pop star Katy Perry, 30, visited Havana’s acclaimed children’s theatre company La Colmenita on Wednesday (October 14) during a visit to the Cuban capital where she met the young performers and caught a special theatre performance from the group.
Perry, who started out as a youth gospel singer, visited Havana as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
Delighting the children, the five time Billboard winner joined the children to sing traditional Cuban song “Toca Toca,” according to media reports.
During her visit, the American star also visited the Cuban Art Factory and is later expected to visit the country’s National Art School.
Perry is the latest celebrity to come to Cuba, following in the footsteps of Mick Jagger and Rihanna who have visited Havana recently as it normalises relations with the United States.
The voice behind hits like “Teenage Dream,” and “Firework,” among other hits, Perry has sold more than 10 million albums and was the subject of the 2012 autobiographical documentary, “Katy Perry: Part of Me.” (Reuters)
