QUEZON CITY, Feb. 3 — The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is inviting interested bidders to the Pre-Qualification (PQ) conference of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) 6 Public-Private Partnership project.

The conference will be held on February 15, 2016 10:00 am at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria.

The USD 1.446 billion PPP project is the latest rail project that the government rolled out. DOTC started inviting groups to prequalify and bid on the project last December 21, 2015.

LRT Line 6 Project is a proposed 19 kilometer railway from Niyog, Bacoor (the terminus of the LRT 1 Cavite Extension) to Dasmariñas City. Seven stations namely Niyog, Tirona, Imus, Daang Hari, Salitran, Congressional Avenue, and Governor’s Drive will be built from this project.

The project will improve passenger mobility and reduce the volume of vehicular traffic in the Cavite area by providing a higher capacity mass transit system. It also aims to spur economic development along the extension corridor.

Under a 30-year concession agreement, the private partner will finance, design, construct, operate and maintain, and procure the rolling stock for the LRT system. (PIA)
