(Eagle News)–The precinct commander and three police officers involved in the arrest of Genesis Argoncillo, who died while detained in the Novaliches police station, have been relieved from their post.
Quezon City Police District director Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel Jr. said relieved were PCP 3 Commander Police Senior Inspector Cyril Dagusen, P01 Ruel Tubat, PO1 Paulo Lopez Jr., and PO1 Paul Hector Calderon.
A police report said Argoncillo was arrested for alarm and scandal, but his family has said he was only arrested because he was shirtless outside his house.
Argoncillo died several days after he was detained.
The police initially said Argoncillo had complained of shortness of breath and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.
The police later said he had been beaten by fellow inmates in the cell.
The relieved policemen have been transferred to the District Headquarters Support Unit (DHSU) in Camp Tomas Karingal.
