(Eagle News) – The Office of the Ombudsman is asking the help of the Philippine National Police to investigate the killing of an Assistant Prosecutor who was attacked and murdered by a still unknown assailant on Monday, June 4, in Quezon City.
The victim was identified as Assistant Prosecutor, Atty. Madonna Joy Tanyag, of the Office of the Ombudsman, and a resident of Concepcion, Marikina City. Tanyag was four months pregnant when she was killed.
She had four stab wounds in the chest.
According to barangay officers who responded at the scene, it was around 11:15 a.m. when they received information about the incident.
They already found Tanyag’s body on the pavement, next to her car. BPSO Edwin Barrios of Barangay Vasra said that they immediately brought Tanyag to the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) where she was declared dead upon arrival.
According to the police investigation, Tanyag just bought milk tea and was attacked as she was returning to her car.
Police are still looking for the suspect who attacked her.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales is asking the PNP to “thoroughly investigate” the incident, and to “ensure that the perpetrators are immediately caught.”
