(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte conducted an aerial inspection of Catanduanes and Albay in the Bicol region which were severely hit by super typhoon Rolly (Goni) on Monday, Nov. 2, a day after the typhoon pummeled Bicol and other parts of Luzon.

Duterte was accompanied by Sen. Christopher Bong Go.

The President’s chopper also landed in Guinobatan. Albay where he met with some of the residents affected by the onslaught of the super typhoon.

Senator Go said that the President was very concerned when he learned about the quarrying operations in the area which the residents have complained about.

He said the the residents in Guinobatan complained to the President about the quarrying there which they blamed for the severe floods and landslides that hit their area during the Super Typhoon Rolly’s onslaught.

“Papaimbestigahan ng Pangulo ang quarrying sa Guinobatan. Nagreklamo ang mga residente,” Go said.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque earlier said that the President has been closely monitoring the typhoon sitution on Sunday, Nov. 1, in Davao, and that he has directed top officials even before the typhoon’s onslaught to do what they could to save people in the typhoon’s path by doing preemptive evacuation.

Roque said that the President would be addressing the nation today.

Duterte conducted the aerial inspection on his way to Metro Manila from Davao.
