MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — President Rodrigo R. Duterte on Wednesday, August 31 welcomed home more than 100 Filipinos abandoned in desert camps in Saudi Arabia with a warning – don’t do drugs.
Duterte’s administration will give job placement priority, either local or abroad, to those repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) coming from Saudi Arabia who were displaced or laid off.
Previous reports said thousands of Filipinos are in danger of losing jobs in Saudi Arabia as the middle eastern country faces a huge budget shortfall and falling oil prices.
There are about one million Filipino migrant workers in Saudi Arabia.
