(Eagle News) — President Aquino has officially endorsed Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas as the Liberal Party’s standard bearer for 2016 presidential elections.
Aquino made the announcement at an event dubbed “a gathering of friends” in Club Filipino in San Juan city this morning.
It might be recalled that Roxas gave way to Aquino in the 2010 presidential elections after Cory Aquino’s death in August 1, 2009 generated a clamor for her son to run.
Roxas was Aquino’s running mate in 2010 but lost to then Makati City mayor Jejomar Binay in the Vice Presidential race.
Roxas thanked the President and his supporters and said: Mga boss, hindi ko sasayangin ang tiwala ninyo.”
