President Benigno S. Aquino III has signed into law the postponement of the Sangguniang Kabataan election to the last Monday of October 2016, Malacañang announced on Thursday (March 26).
The President on Wednesday (March 25) signed Republic Act (RA) No. 10656, entitled “an act postponing the Sangguniang Kabataan elections to the last Monday of October 2016,” which amends RA no. 9164, entitled “an act providing for synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections”, and RA no. 7160, otherwise known as the “Local Government Code of 1991”.
The Sangguniang Kabataan election was originally scheduled on October 28, 2013.
