MANILA, July 27 — President Benigno S. Aquino III will deliver his sixth and last State of the Nation Address at the House of Representatives plenary hall in Batasan Pambansa Complex, Batasan Hills, Quezon City Monday afternoon.
Communications Operations Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr in a radio interview with dzRB Radyo ng Bayan on Sunday said the SONA of President Aquino is the 77th SONA since 1935 and the 29th since the restoration of democratic governance in 1987.
He called on the public to listen to the President’s last State of the Nation Address for the public to be aware of government programs and actions towards change, development and the strengthening of our democracy.
Coloma noted that the Philippine National Police will secure the area and will exercise maximum tolerance. He also appealed to protesters to observe an orderly rally.
The SONA is an annual tradition where “the President shall address the Congress at the opening of its regular session” as prescribed under Article 7, Section 23 of the Philippine Constitution. (PCOO/PIA)
