(Eagle News) — President Bongbong Marcos on Friday, Nov. 25, congratulated Malaysia’s opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who was sworn in as his country’s new Prime Minister.

In a short statement, the President said he hoped Anwar’s election would bring stability, not just in Malaysia, but also in the entire region.

“My personal and official congratulations!” he said.

According to reports, Anwar’s election ends days of post-election crisis.

Malaysia had faced a hung parliament for the first time in its political history after tightly-contested general polls that left political parties unable to get enough votes to form Malaysia’s new government.

Anwar’s Pakatan Harapan (Alliance of Hope) coalition had won the most seats, 82.

However, 112 seats are required for a simple majority in parliament and to lead the government.
