(Eagle News) — She can always pray.
This was the message of President Rodrigo Duterte to Senator Leila de Lima, who is facing a string of drug cases and has been arrested and detained in connection with one filed against her in a Muntinlupa court.
“She can always pray that the truth will come out eventually, if there is another truth. Di naman mahilig mag-ano ng kapwa tao,” Duterte told reporters.
He added that he stood by his decision to wage a war against drugs, a war which De Lima has publicly condemned.
“Inaano sa amin na pinapatay kriminal, e talagang dapat mo patayin. How can we move this country kung lahat bangag na sa droga,” he said.
“Maski ganito lang ako, I love the country, and I would really destroy you,” he added.
De Lima yielded to authorities after Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 204 Judge Juanita Guerrero issued a warrant for her arrest against her.
The warrant of arrest stems from a case lodged against her and two others–her alleged bagman Ronnie Dayan and former Bureau of Corrections officer in charge Rafael Ragos—in connection with their alleged involvement in the illegal drug trading in the national penitentiary.
She is facing two other drug cases in Branches 205 and 206.
Dayan, who was arrested last week, is detained at the Muntinlupa Police, while Ragos, who surrendered to authorities on Sunday, is detained at the National Bureau of Investigation headquarters in Manila.
