President Duterte declares January 25 as National Day of Remembrance for SAF 44

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte declared January 25 as the National Day of Remembrance for the 44 members of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) who were killed in Mamasapano, Maguindanao two years ago.

The date is the exact day when 44 members of the Philippine National Police – Special Action Force died in their operations to neutralize terrorists in Mamasapano Maguindanao in 2015.

President Duterte made Proclamation 13164 which recognized and remembered the heroism of the SAF 44 and their sacrifice for the country.
”As the nation honors the memory of the SAF 44, their heroism also serves as a constant reminder of the continuing sacrifices being made by our valiant uniformed men and women in the line of duty,” the Proclamation stated.

President Duterte then asked the Filipino people to remember the great courage and heroism of the SAF troopers and “recall the daily sacrifices of our uniformed personnel for the sake of the continued peace and security of our nation.”
