(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday took up the cudgels for Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, who has come under fire after admitting he had another girlfriend and children out of wedlock.
“Sino ba walang babae dito? Mayor Herbert (Bautista) tumingin ka sa akin and I’ll tell you you’re a liar,” he told the Quezon City mayor, drawing laughs from the audience at the newly inaugurated Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s Crisis Monitoring and Management Center.
“That should be a non-issue,” he added.
He noted that Alvarez was “not a Catholic.”
“He’s just like me. His grandpa is Chinese. Ang nanay niya Calagan, Muslim…Kaya maski magsabi yang Bebot na yan, he never converted to Christianity. He’s not bound by the number of (wives)..,” he said.
