President Duterte: Gov’t building case vs Trillanes over offshore bank accounts

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said the government was building a case against Senator Antonio Trillanes IV—whom at one point he called “crazy”— over his alleged offshore bank accounts.

According to the President, the amount in these accounts was less than the required amount to raise red flags.

He said Trillanes–who also has a      “(disbursement acceleration program) problem” — maintains these offshore accounts with other Chinese.

“Even if he signs a waiver, puro co-signer niya is Chinese. Kung di magsign yung isa, wala,” Duterte said.

Duterte said as for him, he already signed waivers for anyone to look into his Bank of the Philippine Island accounts even before he ran for the presidency in 2016.

“Trililing”

In his speech in Taguig, Duterte also shot back at Trillanes, who earlier said the chief executive needed to see a psychiatrist after he brought up the possibility of him facing the senator in a draw.

The President did this after Trillanes accused his son, Paolo, of being a member of a Chinese syndicate based on a supposed tatoo on his back.

He also accused the Davao vice mayor and the President’s son-in-law, Mans Carpio, of being smugglers, and of having unexplained wealth, an allegation he also leveled against the older Duterte when he was still running for the presidency in the 2016 elections.

Trillanes only stepped aside when Duterte won by a landslide, citing the need for peace and reconciliation.

The Dutertes and Carpio have denied the allegations, dismissing everything as black propaganda.

“Pumunta na po ako sa psychiatrist…Ang sabi, bata, maswerte ka stage 1 ka lang sa insanity. Yung isang pasyente ko, stage 3,” the President said.

“Sino iyan? E di si Trililing. When you act like Trillanes, stage 3 ka na,” he added
