(Eagle News)—President Rodrigo Duterte went on a verbal offensive against the West on Wednesday, April 25, before he was slated to leave for Singapore to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit.
In Maguindanao, the President railed at Western countries he said felt superior, and imposed their own values on ASEAN countries in particular.
“Si President Widodo nagko-complain. Si Najib ganun rin. Ang Cambodia, iniipit nila. Prangkahan ko kayo. Sa ASEAN, except maybe Thailand, wala silang makuha diyan,” he said, referring to Indonesian President Joko Widodo, and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Widodo has wanted to impose death penalty in his country, something the European Union has criticized.
The Malaysian leader is facing lawsuits filed by the United States Justice Department in connection with a money laundering scandal.
But he has denied any wrongdoing and has railed at the West for their meddling in countries they once colonized.
Cambodia’s Hun Sen has accused the West of undermining his rule.
“Yung foreigner magpunta dito ‘yung mga pari pati…kung ganunin mo ako, hampasin kita ng..,” he said.
He was apparently referring to Australian nun Patricia Fox, whom the Bureau of Immigration ordered on Wednesday, April 25 ,to leave the country after her missionary visa was forfeited.
The BI said this was after it was found she had illegally engaged in political partisan activities.
