President Duterte leads inauguration of Bahay Pag-asa in sixth visit to Marawi

For the sixth time, President Rodrigo Duterte visited war-torn Marawi City in Lanao Del Sur, this time, to lead the inauguration of Bahay Pag-Asa, a housing project for displaced Marawi residents.

Bahay Pag-Asa, a government project in partnership with the private sector, aims to provide immediate shelter and accommodation for internally displaced persons in a 1.2-hectare parcel of land in Marawi City.  It is  located in Barangay Bito Buadi Itowa.

Five housing units have been turned over initially.

The units have solar power systems, communal kitchens, separate showers and toilet stalls for men and women, deep well and a community center.

National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana accompanied the President in this sixth visit to Marawi City.

During the President’s visit, he witnessed troops from Joint Task Force (JTF) Marawi as they built the bamboo houses.

He then gave words of encouragement to the government troops saying he will fulfill his promise of raising their salaries by 2018 and providing funds for the education of their children.

The President also gave out groceries, wristwatches​,​ and sunglasses to the troopers before joining them in a boodle fight.

Actor Robin Padilla also came along with the President to provide entertainment to the soldiers.
