(Eagle News) — Over 200 New People’s Army rebel-returnees met with President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday.
The 241 from Davao Del Norte and Compostela Valley boarded two Philippine Air Force C-130s at Davao City International Airport for the meeting in Malacanang.
The meeting was, however, not open for media coverage.
The rebel-returnees will be given a tour of Luneta Park and Intramuros.
Duterte has said the Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA was a terrorist organization.
He made the statement after calling off peace talks between the group and the government last year.
In his speeches, however, he has urged NPA rebels to surrender, emphasizing that they would be taken care of by the government.
