(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday said he was mulling imposing a total ban on the deployment of Overseas Filipino Workers in Kuwait following reports of sexual abuses of OFWs there.
According to Duterte, the country “lost” four female OFWs in Kuwait in four months.
“My advice is, either we talk to them, state the truth, and just tell them that it’s not acceptable anymore or we impose a total ban,” he said.
He was quick to add, however, that he “does not want to quarrel with Kuwait.”
“I respect their leaders but they have to do something about this,” Duterte said.
Many OFWs in Kuwait work as helpers.
