(Eagle News)—President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, July 31, said his daughter, Davao Mayor Sara Duterte, would not run for a national post.
The President made the revelation as he announced his support for a law that would deter political dynasties.
“Ang anak ko, si Inday, I can tell you I know her,” Duterte said.
It was the Davao mayor who set up the Hukbong ng Pagbabago, a regional political party, with the blessing of her father.
But she said the party would not engage in talks with national parties, only with local ones.
Recent surveys showed the presidential daughter would secure a slot within the Magic 12 if she ran for a Senate seat.
