(Eagle News) President Duterte has named the new president and CEO of the Social Security System (SSS), Aurora Ignacio, who becomes the second woman to lead the government pension fund agency for the private sector.
Her appointment papers were signed on March 28.
Ignacio was appointed a day before the election ban on appointments which is from March 29 to May 12.
She replaces SSS president Emmanuel Dooc who “voluntarily and irrevocably stepped down” from the post early March to give the
President the chance name a new head of the agency.
Ignacio was a former assistant secretary at the Office of the President assigned to handle inquiries and actions regarding the government’s war on drugs.
She was the second female SSS president and CEO. The first female SSS chair was Corazon dela Paz who served the post during the Arroyo administration.
Ignacio was a graduate of Centro Escolar University with a Bachelor of Science major in Commerce, Banking and Finance degree.
