President Duterte names new PCG head

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed a new commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard.

The President signed Elson Hermogino’s appointment paper on January 4.

The former Maritime Safety commander of the PCG was also promoted to Rear Admiral.

He replaced Commodore Joel Garcia, who was also promoted to Rear Admiral, together with Rolando Legaspi and Leopoldo Laroya.

“PCG will support Hermogino and thanks the President for the appointment of a regular Commandant,” PCG spokesperson Armand Balilo said in a statement.
