President Duterte postpones implementation of firecracker ban

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte temporarily postponed the implementation of the proposed nationwide firecracker ban.

The President cited that it was already too late to impose the ban for some groups have already purchased their products for this coming holiday season.

“Hindi na. Too late na…Nabili na nila mga materials. They all have invested. It would not be fair,” Duterte said.

Secretary Paulyn Jean Ubial of the Department of Health said that they have received appealed from firecracker manufacturers for the postponement of the executive order (EO) that seeks to regulate the use of fireworks in the country.
