President Duterte reiterates anti-divorce stance

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, April 18, stood firm in his stand against the divorce bill, which is being pushed by House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.

“I’m sorry but I cannot follow you,” Duterte said in his speech during military change of command ceremonies in Camp Aguinaldo.

Duterte said his daughter, Davao Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, was “not happy with that, really.”

“Mag-usap na lang kayo ni Sara (Just talk to Sara Duterte),” he said.

A word war between Alvarez and the Davao mayor ensued after the Speaker accused her of being part of the opposition when she put up a regional party, the Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

The Davao mayor denied the allegations, saying the party had President Duterte’s blessing.
