President Duterte reveals plans to put up hospital for Filipino OFWs in the Middle East

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte revealed plans to put up a hospital in the Middle East for the old and sickly Overseas Filipino Workers who need medical attention.

Duterte disclosed this during his arrival speech at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Terminal 1 on the dawn of Monday (April 17).

Duterte had arrived from official visits to three Middle Eastern countries since Monday: Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar.

According to the President, some of the OFWs there who have reached retiring ages have requested for health support.

Marami doon ang mag retire na at gusto nang umuwi o kailangan ng medical attention. Kaya ang sabi ko, (na hiningi rin nila), kailangan nila ang hospital,” Duterte said.

He pledged to look for the money needed for the construction of the medical facility.

In his speech, Duterte also acknowledged the role of OFWs, who he said contributed to the growth of the Philippine economy.

“‘Yung pinapadala ng mga Pilipino dito sa bayan natin malaki masyado. It contributes to the Gross National Production (GNP)..,” he said.
