(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has signed a law banning smoking in public places nationwide.
Under Executive Order No. 26, smoking in “enclosed public places and public conveyances, whether stationary or in motion” is now prohibited.
Selling cigarettes will also be banned in all enclosed public places, according to the order published late Thursday and which takes effect in 60 days.
Smoking and selling cigarettes within 100 meters (330 feet) of schools, parks and other areas where children gather will also be banned.
Those who wish to smoke outside their houses may only do so in designated public areas. (Agence France Presse)
